Eitas currently has a full-time opening for a Community Outreach Specialist to provide intake services and informational supports for individuals with developmental disabilities referred to the Community Outreach Department. The Community Outreach Specialist will interact daily with individuals with disabilities, families, agencies, service providers, support coordinators and other eitas team members in the development and implementation of these supports.
Responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:
Contact referrals to the Community Outreach Department and establish eitas relationship. Complete the initial needs assessment with the individual and/or family/guardian. Remain as point of contact until assignment for support is made.
Verify that individuals meet eligibility requirements for Senate Bill 40 tax funded services.
Assist individuals and their families in applying for and maintaining eligibility for a variety of benefits, including but not limited to:
Adult Medicaid
Food Stamps
ABLE Accounts
Collaborate with eitas staff, other agencies, and county and governmental entities to provide supports to referred individuals.
Experience and Training Required:
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university, or a Registered Nurse license.
Skills Required:
Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
Ability to demonstrate and exercise sound judgment, initiative and tact in all interactions, prioritize workflow, and complete multiple tasks accurately.
Must maintain a calm, courteous and professional demeanor at all times.
Ability to maintain discretion and confidentiality with information.
Working knowledge of basic Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel, Outlook, and Microsoft Word.
Ability to organize projects, prioritize workflow and complete multiple tasks accurately within established timeframes
Ability to pay attention to details
Ability to present a professional manner adapted to the situation and place
Ability to establish rapport with individuals referred and in collaborative meetings
General knowledge of state and local community assistance programs is preferred
Knowledge of the culture of gentleness and gentle teaching techniques is preferred
Working Conditions:
Work hours are standard, Monday through Friday, 8:00a – 4:30p. The Community Outreach Specialist will also be able to set his/her own office hours and work may be performed on-site or remotely with pre-approval by the Community Outreach Supervisor.
