Eitas currently has a full-time opening for a Driver Training Supervisor who will provide direct supervision to Drivers and Dispatch staff for our Division of Transportation (DOT). Under the direction of the Transportation Manager, the Driver Training Supervisor will also work closely with DOT Management to ensure a trained transportation workforce is readily available. Training duties include coordinating, developing and/or presenting required training classes delivered in person or via eLearning. The Driver Training Supervisor, in coordination with the Transportation Manager, will be responsible for developing and providing team-building sessions, training on eitas values, coordinating the annual DOT Safety Week training and other staff development sessions as needed. In addition, the Driver Training Supervisor will serve as back-up to the Passenger Intake and Billing Specialist as needed, preparing passenger attendance and billing records to submit to eitas accounting staff, assisting with the passenger intake process and preparing DOT employee timecards for payroll. 

Responsibilities will include, but not be limited to: 

  • Supervise the performance of assigned Drivers and Dispatchers, providing direction, performance counseling, recognition, and corrective action as appropriate. Ride along with assigned staff periodically, as needed.

  • Coordinate the scheduling of assigned Driver team to ensure the safe, efficient, and timely coverage of assigned routes.

  • Identify training needs of DOT staff and provide training in coordination with DOT Management.

  • Evaluate assigned team on an ongoing basis and prepare written evaluations in a timely fashion.

  • Assist DOT Management in reinforcing established safety practices and compliance with company policies. Assist in developing and implementing service procedures and policies.

  • Act as Manager on duty in the Transportation Manager’s absence.

Experience and Training Required:

  • High School Diploma or GED

  • At least 1 year of management/supervisory experience

  • At least 2 years of training experience, including experience with driving safety topics, customer service, and team building

  • A good driving record

  • A criminal record without convictions that 

  • Current certifications including, but not limited to, CPR and first aid training certification

  • A combination of training, education and work experience performing similar duties will also be considered

Experience and Training Preferred:

  • At least 1 year of experience in any area of the paratransit industry

  • At least 1 year of dispatching experience 

Skills and Ability Required:

  • Ability to instruct, direct and evaluate employees

  • Ability to plan, schedule and organize duties

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and attention to detail

  • Computer skills for word processing, database management and using GPS tracking software

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality

  • Ability to pass a criminal record check

  • Ability to provide customer service and handle a variety of people and situations in a positive manner

  • Ability to show care and sensitivity to the special needs of our riders and their families/guardians 

  • Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers and management

  • Must present a professional, business-like manner and appearance

Working Conditions:

The person in this position will be required to work in an office setting with periods of standing, sitting, occasional bending and reaching overhead, frequent handling of paperwork and computer equipment and frequent grasping. When riding along with assigned Drivers, the Driver Training Supervisor will climb to enter and exit the bus and will be exposed to various temperatures and road conditions. The Driver Training Supervisor may occasionally drive a non-CDL company vehicle for work-related purposes.

The person in this position will be required to frequently interact with others in person and on the phone, and continuously exercise clarity of vision at close range to perform job duties. Frequent interruptions are common, and the ability to refocus and maintain attention to detail is necessary.

Work hours are 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, with a 30-minute lunch. Work hours may include occasional evening work as well. All overtime must be pre-approved by the Transportation Manager. Punctual and regular attendance is required.
