Eitas currently has a full-time opening for an Advanced Call Driver to provide door-to-door transportation service throughout Jackson County in a safe and efficient manner. This is a year-round position with our Division of Transportation (DOT), which requires drivers who can responsibly operate a multi-passenger bus, mini-bus or van in all temperatures and road conditions. Under the direction of the Transportation Manager, work includes providing excellent customer service to our riders, their families and many organizations that provide services to persons with developmental disabilities throughout the community, while maintaining effective communication with DOT management and dispatch staff.
Responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:
Transport passengers from home to their destination and back with designated vehicle, on a non-recurring schedule. For riders who use wheelchairs, this includes managing wheelchairs over steps and curbs, and pushing wheelchairs up the ramp into the designated vehicle or using a motorized wheelchair lift.
Complete pre-trip and post-trip inspections before/after each trip
Complete paperwork including daily attendance, vehicle safety reports and other required documentation accurately and on time.
Assist riders by lifting/carrying packages, luggage, etc. as needed or requested.
Assist passengers on and off the vehicle when necessary; drivers should stand outside vehicle at facilities to assist passengers.
Requirements:
High School Diploma or GED
Commercial Driver’s License
Experience driving passenger vehicles, 1 year required, passenger endorsement preferred.
Criminal record without convictions or charges that might endanger the safety of our passengers.
Good driving record
Knowledge of Jackson County Missouri
Federal medical certification
Good attendance and punctuality
Skills and Abilities Required:
A positive friendly demeanor with the ability to provide good customer service.
Ability to deal with multiple people and situations professionally.
The ability to maintain satisfactory attendance and punctuality.
Ability to show care and sensitivity to the needs of our clients.
Basic reading, writing, grammar, and math skills usually attained through a high school education or equivalent.
Working knowledge of the behaviors and medical concerns associated with developmental disabilities.
Ability to communicate effectively with co-workers, management, and the public.
Ability to follow directions, follow route guides, and travel into various areas of Jackson County and any extended operating areas.
Physical capability, strength, and coordination adequate to drive a multi-passenger bus/modified van, and assist clients on and off the vehicle, and secure them in their seats
Working Conditions:
The Advanced Call Driver works Monday through Friday, in a straight eight-hour shift, with a half-hour break for lunch. Work hours may occasionally include some holidays for some scheduled medical appointments. The Advanced Call Driver frequently climbs to enter and exit the designated vehicle, sits, stands, bends, squats, kneels and moves intermittently during working hours. Will push, pull and move wheelchairs where the weight of the chair and the passenger may total up to 50 pounds. Will use manual dexterity to manipulate levers, tie-down straps and seatbelts, and complete required paperwork. Work is performed indoors and outdoors, and the driver is exposed to various temperatures and road conditions. Regular attendance is required.
